About our school
Welcome to Glassell Park Early Education Center (EEC). We are a beautiful school located in the Glassell Park area of Los Angeles across the street from Glassell Park Elementary School. At Glassell Park EEC, we strive to provide a high quality early education experience to prepare students for success in school and life. We are the very beginning in a student’s path to become college prepared and career ready.
We value and respect the needs, languages, and cultures of all students, families, staff, and the community we serve. Our instructional program includes a setting which develops literacy skills such as oral language, listening, speaking, pre-writing, phonemic awareness, vocabulary development, comprehension, critical thinking and problem solving. Our children become self-directed and self-reliant while participating in a planned indoor/outdoor instructional program. We believe that all students have a right to learn in a developmentally appropriate and challenging educational program where we integrate learning opportunities with high expectations.
We are a Nature Explore School so our emphasis is for children to connect with nature on a daily basis and to enhance their creativity. Children’s experiences with nature encourage them to cooperate and problem solve in a natural environment where they are engaged in hands-on learning. Our outdoor space has plants, trees, and grass, as well as a wheeled toy area to ride tricycles. During outdoor learning time you will see our students building with natural materials, sorting pine cones and shells, playing in the sand, painting, playing with water, planting, making music with our Marimba, and riding tricycles around the track.
At Glassell Park EEC, each child grows socially, emotionally, mentally, and physically in a safe, comfortable, nurturing environment. Through the use of an assessment tool developed by the California Department of Education, Child Development Division, staff members provide a personalized learning plan for each child. The Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) is a validated assessment instrument that covers the developmental domains of physical, cognitive, and social emotional development.
Another important component at Glassell Park EEC is our parent component. We value the role parents play as they are their child’s first teacher. The partnership between the home and school is vital in every child’s growth and maturity. We encourage you to visit your child’s classroom at any time and ask the teacher how you can be involved.
